Jail Questions
How does someone get out of jail after being arrested?
An individual who has been arrested and booked into jail may be released from custody while their case is still ongoing.
Some ways to be released include:
- A judge might review what they were arrested for and grant them an own recognizance release. This release may require being supervised by our office.
- They might receive a citation from the Sheriff and be released.
- They might be able to post bail.
- They might be released if charges are not filed.
If an individual is not released or is unable to post bail, then they may ask to be released when they go to court.
Sometimes, an individual might not get released or be allowed to post bail - for example, they might have a probation or parole hold.
