Jail Unit FAQs
New felony arrests that are not violent or serious felonies as defined in PC 1270.1 are eligible for possible O.R. release.
Call the department of Pretrial Services immediately during regular business hours at (408) 918-7900 to find out information on release requirements and future court dates.
Once the release paper work has been submitted to the County jail booking department, the Department of Corrections is in charge of the release process. Pretrial Services cannot provide a definite release time.
The information you provide will be placed in a confidential envelope in your court file. It may be used by judges to review for possible release consideration at a later date.
Although you may not be eligible for release at the time of your arrest and booking, you may become eligible for release when you appear in court for your in custody arraignment. Additionally, circumstances may change that effect your eligibility at a future court date (i.e. warrants resolves, holds dropped, etc).
Not automatically, but you may request to be contacted. To sign up for the victim notification hotline you need to call 1-(800)-464-3568 and the defendant’s Personal File Number (PFN) or the exact spelling of their name and date of birth.
